Computer Replacement Cycle for Faculty and Staff

Computers for tenure line faculty, full time staff, and some other positions, with the approval of the Vice President for Finance and Administration, are replaced every four years.

Each year the Office of Information Services develops a standard computer configuration based on the projected needs of the majority of computer users and the funds available for such purchases. This configuration is then offered to those individuals eligible for a replacement cycle computer. The cost of upgrades to the standard configuration must be paid by the eligible individual or that individual's department.

Monitors are not replaced with each new computer cycle. Rather, monitors are replaced when they malfunction or when an individual or department, other than OIS, funds the cost of replacement.

University departments are responsible for funding computer systems for staff positions added to their complement. Departments are also responsible for ensuring that replacement cycle funding is made available to OIS for these added computer systems.
