Mission

The mission of the Office of International Programs at the University of Puget Sound is to serve as an advocate and catalyst to bring a global education component to Puget Sound. This is achieved by promoting study abroad programs which maintain a level of academic expectation comparable to that of the on-campus curriculum, and by encouraging the development of a diverse population of international students and scholars who can enrich the academic and co-curricular life on campus. The Office of International Programs focuses on providing opportunities for international education and fostering an appreciation for cultural diversity at the University of Puget Sound. Internationalizing the campus enables Puget Sound students to experience and have contact with cultures and customs other than their own, which will in turn enable them to expand their horizons, to learn to appreciate the commonality and differences of all members of a global society, and to engage in thoughtful moral discourse and establish relationships which transcend country borders.

The Office of International Programs plays an important role to the university's study abroad and international communities by developing policies, providing services and sponsoring programs of benefit to these and other university constituencies.
