Provides fellowships for advanced professionals in all fields (natural sciences, social sciences, humanities, creative arts) except the performing arts.

A slick, user-friendly web site with news updates, current project information, search capabilities, and on-line application guidelines and materials. A must see.

National Institute for Global Environmental Change
For those interested in environmental issues, a funding organization with a searchable website.

A great resource for finding information about NIH grants. Contains an on-line guide with search capabilities in both WWW and Gopher formats.

National Research Council
The Fellowship Office of the National Research Council, a unit of the Office of Scientific and Engineering Personnel (OSEP), administers predoctoral, dissertation, and postdoctoral fellowship programs. Check out this site for a wealth of program information.

National Science Foundation
The N.S.F. provides an extensive website with listings for all available grants and opportunities as well as extensive program information. The site even has search capabilities for finding documents and forms.

The NorthWest Academic Computing Consortium is comprised of thirty-one colleges, universities, and other non-profit organizations in Oregon, Washington, Alaska, Idaho, Montana, and North Dakota. Founded in 1987, NWACC's mission is to provide a mechanism for the cooperation and collaboration of institutions in improving access to and use of advanced technological resources in instruction, research, and administrative operations.

The purpose of the Alan T. Waterman Award is to recognize outstanding young researchers in any field of science or engineering supported by the National Science Foundation. The Awardee receives a $500,000 nonrestrictive grant over a 3-year period for continued research.

09/21/2004: Fulbright Direct Access to the Muslim World
Applications are invited for the Fulbright Visiting Specialists Program: Direct Access to the Muslim World. Through this program, U.S. higher education institutions host scholars from predominantly Islamic countries for a short term, thereby enriching both the campus and surrounding community with a better understanding of the Muslim world and civilizations.
The deadline for applications is October 1, 2004, in order to host a scholar in the 2005 calendar year.

09/21/2004: Gilder Lehrman American History Fellowships
The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History invites applications for short-term Research Fellowships, which are open to scholars at every faculty rank. They can be used for research at the New-York Historical Society, Columbia University Rare Book and Manuscript Library, New York Public Library - Humanities and Social Sciences Library, and Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture.
The next application deadline is December 3, 2004.
