Community EngagementThe University of Puget Sound is an integral part of a vibrant Tacoma community and North End neighborhood that enrich the experiences of our students in countless ways. The University of Puget Sound is committed to being a good neighbor. We work with our community to build strong partnerships with the diverse community that surrounds our campus and with our local business and government colleagues. The Office of Community Engagement connects the university’s resources to the community in order to create and support a variety of projects and programs. Our purpose is to collaborate with our partners and community stakeholders to enhance the quality of life of our neighborhood, our great city of Tacoma, and the Puget Sound. We work closely with community leaders, community-based organizations, and Puget Sound faculty, staff and students. Through numerous campus initiatives, student volunteerism, and a staffing commitment to community engagement, we seek create a campus community that embraces cultural diversity, the challenges of global citizenship, and meaningful partnerships in the region. Our goal is to strengthen and promote academic achievements and partnerships in the arts and music, education, health sciences, and business and leadership that engage regional issues for their national significance and recognition.
